Breath Alcohol
Testing
Using a breath analyzer or breathalyzer, you can get instant screening results that accurately determine the amount of alcohol in someone’s bloodstream at any given time. We work with Breath Alcohol Technicians trained and certified in workplace drug testing procedures. Breath alcohol testing is commonly used by employers for post-accident or pre-employment purposes. Individuals may need it for court orders or legal agreements.
Urine Alcohol
Testing
ETG or urine alcohol tests will accurately detect traces of the substance if someone has had a drink within the past three to five days. Our ETG test for alcohol is a fairly common way a business, court or family can see any recent or mid-range alcohol use within a timeframe of about 80 hours. Whether you’re setting up random testing, or looking for court-admissible results and peace of mind, PROCOM has you covered.
PEth Testing
Phosphatidylethanol is an alcohol marker found in red blood cells and is part of the cell membrane. We offer PEth testing using dried blood spots. PEth can be detected for about 2-4 weeks, but in some cases, it may last up to 6 weeks or more. While urine tests detect immediate impairment, PEth testing can show sign of previous or habit usage which can be important for reporting purposes for individuals in sobriety or parole programs.

Client Stories of Success with PROCOM
See How We Make a Difference for Our Clients
“We have had a couple of prospective employees who tried to get past the system but the checks and balances are so exacting that the danger of hiring someone who can’t truly pass a screen is practically nil. The staff has been very forthright with us as a company and with the applicants as well. Perhaps that shouldn’t be above our expectations, but we do appreciate the fact that the staff understand the trust we have put in their work.”

Frequently Asked Questions About PROCOM'S Alcohol Screening Methods
What is a breathalyzer, and why is it used?
Immediately after your first sip of any beverage containing alcohol, the substance enters your bloodstream through your mouth, stomach, and intestines. When alcohol moves freely through the bloodstream, it affects your central nervous system, requiring your liver to work overtime to filter alcohol out.
A breathalyzer will test this alcohol for accurate results of what levels you might have in your bloodstream or your blood alcohol content (BAC). It’s important to remember that factors like muscle mass, weight, or how much food you consume with alcoholic beverages will all contribute to your BAC.
How does a breathalyzer provide BAC results?
You’ll be asked to take a deep breath before exhaling into the breathalyzer mouthpiece. The air from your lungs and mouth will pass through the chamber in the devices, where special chemicals react with alcohol using PROCOM’s LifeLoc Phoenix 6.0 breathalyzers. Every device is calibrated to measure breath alcohol concentration and transforms it into blood alcohol concentration using a constant.
Lifeloc Technologies manufactures the most advanced Evidential Breath Tester (EBT) on the market for DOT and non-DOT alcohol testing. The breathalyzers record the absolute BAC to the thousandths of a percent. Test results are easily and reliably copied, scanned, or faxed, allowing for results to be printed and signed by the donor.
Are breathalyzers accurate?
Yes! Breath alcohol screening with a breathalyzer is very accurate as long as the test is administered properly. Having issues with this form of breath alcohol screening is not common. PROCOM only uses devices approved by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA.)
Is urine alcohol testing accurate?
Generally speaking, urine alcohol testing doesn’t measure your current level of intoxication other than to state whether you have alcohol in your system at all (Urine Alcohol Test) or whether you have consumed alcohol in the past handful of days (ETG Test). Current level of intoxication is best tested using a Breath Alcohol Test.
