Drug Take Back 2022

The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day provides a safe and responsible method for disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the public about the potential for abuse of medications.

This year’s annual National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is April 30, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can take Unused prescription drugs to one of the DEA’s more than 5,500 registered collection sites around the country.

Unused prescription drugs can sometimes find their way into the wrong hands. It’s dangerous and can often lead to death. The community may clean out their medicine cabinets and turn in prescription drugs anonymously and safely.

Since 2010, the Drug Enforcement Administration event has collected more than 6,800 tons of prescription drugs, including opioid and other medications susceptible to misuse.

Why is it so important to properly dispose of unused drugs? When drugs are not disposed of properly, children, elderly people, and pets can get access to those medicines and the results can be tragic. The second problem is intentional misuse. People can go through medicine cabinets and take prescription drugs, which they then sell. You can prevent these two outcomes by disposing of medicines properly.
